agoood, in collaboration with the National Cheng Kung University College of Medicine and the International Wound Repair and Regeneration Center, has transformed art into a powerful force for social change. Together, they are hosting the "Between the lights" art exhibition, with the opening event held on December 24th at the College of Medicine.
Dean Shen Yan-Sheng of the College of Medicine attended the opening ceremony and remarked, "When we look at patients, we see people, not illnesses. We hope to help them return to their normal identities."
In the past, NCKU has hosted multiple art exhibitions to encourage patients in unique and meaningful ways. This time, in partnership with agoood, the work of five rare disease patients with hereditary epidermolysis bullosa has been co-created with designers to produce 13 stunning pieces. These efforts help patients build confidence and bring new dimensions to their daily lives.
Over the past eight years, agoood has steadfastly believed that art not only heals the soul but can also bring about tangible change. Through art therapy courses and co-creation systems, agoood supports disadvantaged groups by improving physical and mental training, building confidence, and fostering social inclusion. In 2024, we guided five Bubble Dragon patients to challenge themselves and complete Taiwan’s first-ever "rare disease handwriting font" creation.
Each stroke of resilience comes together to shine as the light of life
Taiwan's First Rare Disease Handwriting Font: A Profound Milestone
We integrated the handwriting of rare disease patients into 13 co-created works of art, which will be showcased at the Filter. Green Path art exhibition on December 24th. These pieces not only reflect the resilience and creativity of the patients but also convey the powerful message that "rare diseases are not rare." Adding to the significance of this project, 54 supporters have joined us, enabling us to provide profit-sharing red envelopes to the patients, ensuring that their hard work truly pays off.
Between the Lights: An Art Exhibition Empowered by Social Collaboration
This exhibition symbolizes diverse perspectives of life through the filter and represents new paths forged by disadvantaged individuals through the roads between the lights. In partnership with the National Cheng Kung University College of Medicine, we have transformed the stories of rare disease patients into art, redefining their identities from patients to luminous creators.
Dean Shen Yan-Sheng poignantly stated, "When we look at patients, we see people, not illnesses." This belief stands at the heart of our collective efforts, driving us to create a brighter and more inclusive world.
